During my Junior year, I declared a minor in Italian Studies. I never intended on minoring in a language, but after my completion of Chapman’s language requirement, I was encouraged by a professor of mine to pursue the minor. I agreed to give it a try and this became another rewarding experience at Chapman for a multitude of reasons. Furthermore, I was asked on to the Italian department’s new mentor program, in which I became a mentor to three Italian students. This minor allowed me to learn more and dive deeper into Italian food, history, and culinary arts. Lastly, becoming proficient in a second language is a strength that I can put to use in my future, whether that be in a workplace setting or a travel endeavor.
